Making Your Home More Energy Efficient
Atrium understands your desire for easy-care, energy-efficient products. That’s why most Atrium products can be specified to meet Energy Star® criteria in all climate regions.
Energy Star® windows
The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have developed the Energy Star® designation for products meeting certain energy performance criteria. Most Atrium windows can be specified to meet Energy Star® criteria in all climate regions.
Since the performance requirements of windows vary by climate, specific product ratings have been developed for each of the four U.S. climate regions shown.

Low-E Glass Technology
Low-E glass is coated with a virtually invisible layer of silver that reflects radiant solar energy while permitting visible light to pass through the glass. In cold, winter climates, the Low-E glass helps keep rooms warmer by reflecting heat back into the home while letting warm, solar rays in. In hot, summer temperatures, the Low-E glass lets visible light pass while blocking infrared and ultraviolet radiant solar energy. So your rooms stay cooler and you save on precious energy costs.

In the summer, Low-E glass reduces heat gain from the sun to help keep your home cooler.
In the winter, Low-E glass lets warm solar rays in while reducing heat loss from your home.
Low-E Glass with Insulating Argon or Krypton Gas
Insulating gas works like an insulating blanket between two panes of glass to further improve the thermal efficiency of the window. In addition to saving valuable energy dollars, insulating gas helps deter outside sound from entering your home.
